I have recently aqquired a Hong Nor CRT.5, but i have no nitro or a Glow PLug, is this Glow plug below ok?
The fella who had it before run it on 25% Nitro, where would i get this?
Also need an idea how to start it, how long do i leave the glow plug on etc? B|

Hi daxter,
That glow Starter would be perfect.
as for 25% Nitro.. Sounds quite high for a small engine like that.
I could be wrong but I would got 16 or 20% max.
I used to get nitro from Noel Barret in washington street.
20% Heli fuel ( for helicoptors ) Pleny of smoke to keep you happy
Just dont tell him what it is for. :thumbl:

First thing is to charge your new glo starter, when done. take the glo plug out of the crt and make sure it lights up. ( just for a second so as not to burn it out.
I also would order a few spares of these as the blow quite often if the engine is tuned wrong.

Right, Thats that sorted.
On with running it,
1)Fill with fuel.
2) Prime engine with primer button if it has one. if not just give it a few pulls until you see the fuel enter the carb, ( It can help to block the exhaust with your finger while doing this),, Just dont flood it.

3) turn on your handset
4) turn on power on CRT.5
5) attach glo-starter and pull like a demon till your arm hurts and your knuckles are shredded.. ( thats what usually happens anyway ) :O

One word of advice.
make sure your :
A) radio gear is working perfect and is matched. ie, Throttle and brake working spot on.

B) Fit a failsafe so as it wont run away if it goes out of range.

c) Have fun :thumbr:

Nooooooooooooooooo..!! :omg:

Some of those glo-plugs are long reach, they would wreck the engine in an instant

They could also be the wrong temp. plug.

i told a few lads that race truggys up the country i used heli fuel and thay said its not good for it, its too oily and seen as it say heli fuel on the bottle i would presume thats what its designed for, i ran it in mine and it makes it hard to tell if its running too lean with all the smoke off it..

Well
Oil is good to keep the engine lubed.
Yes I agree about the tuning part but Tune by temp and not by smoke and all will be good.
As for Heli fuel developed for Heli's,
That is correct,
But
It is designed for constant lubrication.
This is why it is fine for onroad engines as well
After all
They are all the same engine principal

thanks for all the tips lads, i tested it yesterday and it was running sweet, not particuarly fast, but i don't know what to expect or how to tune it to go faster?
The engine is a Hong nor x.12, very quick off the line but not a great top speed, but it run that was the main thing.
